someday I want to be just like Dad
Doing what is right
and always willing to lend a hand
Dad is always making others feel grand
He works hard at the work that needs to be done
even though it may not always be fun
sometimes life gets a little grim
but he is always thankful
for what life has given him
I have set a goal that is very hight
as you can see
so for now I will have to settle with
just being me
but someday if the Lord will lead the way
I will be just like Dad

Just Like Mom
Someday I want to be just like mom
spreading joy throughout our family
like a magical summer song,
she always gives me comfort
whether I skin my knee or bruise my heart
with a love so gentle
it is like a warm welcome
even when it is time to part,
I may wander from the path
that mom has made for me,
yet still she waits and watches
with the lantern of God's love
until that day
her footprints lead me home
and inspire me
to be the woman
she would want me to be.
